AGENT ICARUS |
Available Issue #1, £1.00 |
|
Creators: Scott Claringbold and Anthony Mercer Pages: 24, Format: US Colour Cover This comic is actually quite hard to categorise. It contains elements of horror, fantasy, and adventure. Scott has written a fast moving sci fi adventure, which has been brought to life by the dark, moody pen of Anthony Mercer. If you liked Anthony's work in "Tales Of Urban Horror", then you'll love this. |

ANGEL NEBULA Creator: Tony McGee, Pages: 24 - 32 Format: A5 B/W At first everyone wondered what Tony was doing with this highly cerebral sci fi epic. Then when issue #9 was finally published all was revealed.... or was it? Reminiscent of both the original Alien movie and B movies of the early eighties, this comic enjoys a spooky atmospheric style that sucks the reader right in. Tony's inking style reminded me of Tom Palmer and early Dan Green work, and he seems to display a natural ability for storytelling. |
Available 5, 6, 7, 8, 9. (Last Issue) Price: 75p |

TITLE: FRONTIERS Creator: Tony McGee, Pages: 24 -32, Format: A5 B/W From the creator of the acclaimed Angel Nebula comes a science fiction series that is another carefully written, and stylishly illustrated comic. You really need to watch the panels on this one, especially issue #3, which contains a brilliantly claustrophobic story in which a certain character seems to be trapped in a frustrating time loop. Tony's art continues to improve, and his storytelling is as well paced as ever. If only Hollywood would give him $100,000000 to make a movie. We can but dream.

TITLE: The SURROGATES
Creators: Robert Venditti and Brett Weldele, Pages: 32 Format: US Colour Comic "Good science fiction is hard to come by, but Venditti’s blend of technology, crime drama and social commentary makes for the most original sci-fi mythology in years. The Surrogates should satisfy your post-‘Matrix’ itch. Accept no substitutes!" -- Jake Rossen, Wizard Magazine The year is 2054, and life has been reduced to a data feed. The fusing of virtual reality and cybernetics has ushered in the era of the surrogate, a new technology that lets users interact with the world without ever leaving their homes. It’s a perfect world, and it’s up to Detectives Harvey Greer and Pete Ford of the Metro Police Department to keep it that way. But to do so they’ll need to stop a techno-terrorist bent on returning society to a time when people lived their lives instead of merely experiencing them. In the tradition of William Gibson and Philip K. Dick, The Surrogates is more than just an action story with sci-fi trappings. Applying familiar tropes in unfamiliar ways, The Surrogates is about progress and whether there exists a tipping point at which technological advancement will stop enhancing and start hindering our lives. It is also a commentary on identity, the Western obsession with physical appearance, and the growing trend to use science as a means of providing consumers with beauty on demand. Now optioned as a major motion picture starring Bruce Willis! RECOMMENDED FOR MATURE READERS |
