Romance

Love stories, but not always with mush!

TITLE: BLANKETS

Creator: Craig Thompson, Pages: 592, Format: 164 x 245mm Perfect Bound

Publisher: Top Shelf Productions

"I thought it was moving, tender, beautifully drawn, painfully honest, and probably the most important graphic novel since JIMMY CORRIGAN." -- Neil Gaiman

Wrapped in the landscape of a blustery Wisconsin winter, BLANKETS explores the sibling rivalry of two brothers growing up in the isolated country, and the budding romance of two coming-of-age lovers. A tale of security and discovery, of playfulness and tragedy, of a fall from grace and the origins of faith. A profound and utterly beautiful work.

TITLE: SLEEPING BEAUTY

Publisher:  John Cei Douglas

Pages: 28

Format: A5 Colour Cover

A melancholy love story about an affair that could have been the real thing, only the two lovers never got the chance to find out. The creator John Cei Douglas has attempted to catputure those fragmented memories that make us nostalgic about a lost love without being overly sentimental. A photograph found in a draw, a song on the radio. We've all been there, and that's why this comic works so well.

TITLE: TRUE STORIES

Creator: Tony McGee, Pages: 28, Format: A5 B/W

In this, the first of what I hope will be many, issues Tony gives us something closer to his classic 'Dark Weather' than to the current 'Frontiers' series of Sci-Fi Stories. However this story "The Right Girl" is more of an English lad's Ally McBeal. There's some post teen angst, and some wonderful moments of natural humour, all presented in Tony's distinct, and constantly improving art style.
